Dr. Wachs and his office team want you to be comfortable and satisfied with all aspects of your care and provide the following information to help reach that end.


We see all patients on an appointment basis and ask that you call in advance so that we may reserve time for you. We make every effort to see patients at their scheduled time and request that you extend the same courtesy to us and our other patients. 

If we are aware ahead of time that we may be behind schedule for your appointment, we will attempt to reach you, if at all possible. 

We ask that you call us as soon as you are aware that you will be late or need to change an appointment.

Emergency Care

We understand that many conditions may require prompt care and we try to set aside time for such instances. Please call as early in the day as possible if you have a problem so that we can best accommodate you.

Dr. Wachs can be reached at any time via the office phone number. If we are not in the office, Dr. Wachs can be paged through the office phone system and he will respond promptly.

Before Treatment

Consultation prior to treatment is not required in every instance, but it may be necessary in certain instances. Even when not required, prior consultation may be helpful, depending on the patient, specific medical or dental conditions, and/or treatments. This will be discussed with you when you call to schedule your appointment. 

Please provide any medical and/or dental information at this time, so that we may contact your physician and/or dentist prior to your visit, if necessary. Remember that information which seems routine to you may impact on your treatment.

All patients under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.


Dr. Wachs wants to take care of you safely and needs high-quality x-rays to ensure that you receive the best care possible. He will not take x-rays unless they are required. All x-rays taken in our office are obtained with state-of-the-art digital x-ray equipment, minimizing each patient’s x-ray exposure, maximizing x-ray quality, and protecting the environment.

We may be able to use x-rays taken by your dentist if they are appropriate and adequate for the procedure we will be doing. Please bring x-rays with you or notify us ahead of time so that we can arrange for your dentist to send them to us.

Patient Safety and Comfort

Patient safety and comfort are the priorities of Dr. Wachs and his staff.

Infection control and sterilization procedures are performed and monitored in accordance with all applicable standards and regulations.

We realize that it’s natural to be anxious about coming to the Oral Surgeon. Dr. Wachs and his staff understand and work hard to make your visit anxiety-free and to keep you comfortable during treatment, both emotionally and physically. 

We can help you decide if your treatment would be best with local anesthetic, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), or more advanced anesthetic techniques. Please feel free to bring your music device so that you may enjoy listening while we work.

After Treatment

Comprehensive procedure-specific instructions for home care will be provided to all patients in both oral and written forms. These instructions are also posted on this website in the Post-Operative Instructions. 

Additional instructions will be given regarding the use of any over-the-counter and/or prescriptions that may be indicated. Patients are encouraged to contact the office with any questions regarding post-operative conditions or care.

As stated previously, if it is necessary, Dr. Wachs can be paged through the office phone system and he will respond promptly.

Post-Operative Instructions

Oral and written instructions will be provided after your treatment. These instructions may also be found at following the next paragraph. Follow-up appointment(s) will be scheduled as necessary. Analgesics (painkillers) will be prescribed as required. If an antibiotic is prescribed, it is important that it is taken as directed.

Dr. Wachs is available 24 hours a day should you encounter any difficulty or if you have any questions. If he is out of the office, he can be paged via the messaging service and he will respond to you promptly.
